State Historical Records Advisory Board

Who We Are

The Wyoming State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB) consists of public officials and private citizens who believe in the importance of preserving our state's records and in making them available for the public.

We work with state and local governments, businesses and organizations, and individuals to provide information, technical assistance and resources. The Wyoming SHRAB is one of many similar organizations in existence nationwide, supported by and operating in cooperation with the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), a branch of the National Archives.

SHRAB Goals

The Wyoming State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB) promotes the identification, preservation and dissemination of Wyoming's historical records.

Goal 1:
Develop a statewide cooperative approach for the preservation of Wyoming records of ongoing value.

Goal 2:
Encourage and support ongoing training programs for state, tribal and local governments, local repositories, organizations and others involved in records care.

Goal 3:
Facilitate access to and increase the use of Wyoming's records.

Goal 4:
Ensure the preservation of historical electronic records and information.

GRANTS

The Wyoming State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB) promotes the identification, preservation and dissemination of Wyoming’s historical records, by encouraging and supporting ongoing training programs for state, tribal and local governments, local repositories, organizations, and others involved in records care.

With grant funds from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, National Archives and Records Administration, the SHRAB is pleased to announce the availability of up to five $1,000 regrants for (1) paid staff and volunteers of Wyoming’s cultural heritage institutions to attend training, conferences, educational workshops, or courses on topics related to the management and/or preservation of historical records, and (2) for special projects at their institution. Each scholarship may cover registration fees, travel costs, lodging and per diem (for food). Funding may also be used to bring recognized experts into an institution for consultation related to the management, accessibility, or preservation of the historical records in its legal custody.
