Postcard Collection

Cheyenne Postcard
The postcard collection contains over 3,000 cards. This collection is illustrative of the history of postcards that consist of private mailing cards through to modern photochrome-style postcards. The greater part of the collection dates from the Post Card Period of 1901 to the White Border Period of 1930. There are a number of beautiful Linen Period postcards with the remainder being from the Modern Photochrome-style Period. The majority of postcards have a Wyoming theme with Yellowstone National Park being the largest subject examined. Many of the postcards have written messages that present a glimpse of times past. These postcards capture a moment in history with a brief statement from the writer about their trip to Wyoming. And many just leave a record of the weather or wind in Wyoming. This collection offers a significant historic examination of Wyoming during the twentieth century.
